About Austin

Austin Call has been a race fan for about as long as he can remember. The Spring, Texas native started watching NASCAR when he was just two years old, but by 2015, racing had become something he truly followed and loved. At nine, Call got his own chance behind the wheel, racing Quarter Midgets before taking a few years away from at-track competition.

Even when he wasn’t physically at the track, though, Call was still racing. He started competing on iRacing at 13, and two years later got back behind the wheel of an actual car when his dad, Jamie, and Dane Schwarz, started and built Texas Independent Racing (TIR). He originally drove the No. 8, a nod to longtime favorite driver Kyle Busch and Kyle’s move to Richard Childress Racing, before eventually switching to the familiar No. 18, after not having much luck with the 8.

Call currently competes in Legends Cars and has earned four poles and a heat-race win at Houston Motorsports Park. While HMP hasn’t always been particularly kind to him on race day, he continues to rise to the challenge whenever he competes there. He also remains heavily involved in sim racing, competing in events such as the PGR 500 and earning four championships in iRacing leagues.

At 19, soon to be 20, Call is balancing racing with college and a career in sports. He currently lives in Nacogdoches, Texas, where he is a sophomore at Stephen F. Austin State University studying Sports Business and works with the SFA men’s basketball team. That experience has allowed him to see sports from several different angles, as an athlete, a student, and someone working behind the scenes.

Away from racing and school, Call is a big music fan, with rap, R&B, and rock usually in the rotation. He’s also a fan of superhero movies, his favorite color is red, and if steak is on the menu, he knows what he’s ordering!
